PR for nonprofit seminars a success
6/15/2008

During April and May, the Greater Cleveland Chapter of PRSA and The Center for Community Solutions teamed up to present a six-week series, "Six Steps to PR Success for Your Nonprofit." Over 50 nonprofit professionals gathered weekly at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo to hear from a total of 15 experienced PR professionals, including PRSA members Rick Batyko, Courtney Clarke, Montrie Rucker Adams, Lisa Rose, and Davis Young, APR.

The series began by giving participants an overview of what a good PR plan entails. As the weeks continued, the series went in-depth, teaching participants how to identify audiences; develop strategies and tactics; create a high-impact, actionable PR plan; present the plan; and roll out and evaluate the message.

"Six Steps to PR Success for Your Nonprofit," a repeat of the award-winning series held in 2006, received rave reviews from attendees, according to surveys collected afterwards. Participants found the speakers and handouts to be both unique and helpful in laying out plans for their own organizations. According to conference participant Zoe Metcalf of Common Ground Center, the sessions provided “valuable, step-by-step guidance from top professionals in the industry!”

“It was not another 3-hour “How to Market Your Nonprofit Agency 101,” agreed Betsey Kamm of The Nord Center.
